You do know that that soldier is in for a rude awakening if he thinks his college will be fully paid for and has a guaranteed position in civilian life. Whoever sold him that bill of goods is a great (or not so great) recruiter. After the latest rounds of VA and GI Bill cuts, the waiting list to actually get reimbursed (yes, now the actual soldiers are fronting money) is around 18 months.
He will ultimately get college paid for (possibly), depending on the amount of credits are taken per semester, but it will be a long row to hoe. And good luck reading the actual bill.
Unfortunately, the GI Bill came under heavy scrutiny due to the austerity measures some of our elected representatives wanted. So, once again, the people who we should be bending over backwards to help, are getting the shaft. Typical.
Wait till you get hurt in the next for profit war and find youself at a VA hospital struggling to get enough of your military pension to pay for the overpriced medication you have to take for you post traumatic stress syndrome from seeing too many of your buddies die for the sake of profit. Then you will think wait maybe I am part of the 99%.
